Common Gateway Interface (abbreviated CGI) is a protocol to connect external applications with a web server. Such an application usually processes a script within the web page and returns a static page to the web server.
In the context of NETIO products
CGI is an older and somewhat incorrect name that related to the control of power outputs (outlets) using a URL with certain parameters. After creating a set of standard M2M API protocols, we renamed this control method to URL API.
Alternative names:
- CGI M2M protocol
- CGI (HTTP GET)
- CGI API
