If not prevented (in the case of unintentional backfeeding) or properly performed (in cases of intentional backfeeding), backfeeding may present unanticipated hazards to electrical grid equipment and service personnel.
The Reverse Energy (supplied energy) value is useful typically for monitoring of:
- Wind turbines
- Photovoltaic systems
- Mikro CHP (Cogeneration)
It can help identify the unintentional backfeeding in other cases.
In the context of NETIO products
Metered NETIO smart sockets (except PowerPDU 4C) measure energy supplied from the connected device back to the grid and the Reverse Energy counters count this energy.
The Reverse Energy counters are 4-byte values; they overflow at 4294967296 Wh. This corresponds to 4.294967296 GWh.
The energy flow from the connected device back to the grid is also indicated by the negative sign of Load value and Phase value between 90° and 270°.
