Type F - Schuko (CEE 7/3) most popular EU electrical socket/plug

Plug & Socket Type F is used in most EU countries, including Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, and others.

Type F Plug

The Type F electrical plug (also known as Schuko – shorthand for the German “Schutzkontakt”) has two 4.8 mm round pins spaced 19 mm apart.

• Type F plugs are rated for 16 Amps.
• The Type F plug is also known as the CEE 7/4 plug.
• The Type F plug is physically similar to the Type E plug, the main difference lies in the earthing mechanism. The Type F plug has two earth clips on the top and bottom, while the Type E plug uses a hole for the socket's male earthing pin.
• In the EU (European Union), the combined CEE 7/7 plug is very popular. It is compatible with both Type E and Type F sockets.

Type F Socket

The Type F socket is also known as the CEE 7/3 socket.

• The Type F socket also accepts Europlugs (CEE 7/16) and Type C plugs. These have thinner pins with a current limit of 2.5 A.
• It also accepts CEE 7/17 (unearthed) plugs, which may be rated for either 10 A or 16 A.
• The Type F (Schuko) connection system is symmetrical and unpolarized, allowing the L (line or phase) and N (neutral) pins to be reversed.
• Some countries (e.g., South Korea, Portugal, Finland, Denmark, and Sweden) require child-proof socket shutters. However, the German standard DIN 49440-1:2006-01 does not include this requirement.
